Assistant Teaching Professor in Department of Modern Languages
The Department of Modern Languages at Florida International University, Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs in Miami, invites applications for a Non-Tenure Track, Assistant Teaching Professor position in the Spanish Program, beginning August 2026. The successful candidate should be willing to teach at all levels of the undergraduate Spanish curriculum. A full course load for this position is eight courses per year (four per semester) in various modalities. A Ph.D. in Spanish is required. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English is also required. The selected candidate will also be expected to contribute to service including, but not limited to, student advising.
We seek candidates with a strong commitment to teaching. Evidence of excellence in teaching, with at least four years’ experience teaching from beginning to advanced Spanish language courses at the university level. Candidates should be well-versed in task-based language teaching, communicative language teaching, and have experience working with adult heritage and non-heritage Spanish language learners.
In 2021, the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs (The Green School), the college housing the Department of Modern Languages, received full membership in the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA). This prestigious organization includes the top 41 schools of international affairs in the world. The Green School is among only 26 in the U.S. with this designation, 5th in the Southeastern United States, and the 1st and only one in the State of Florida.
